Heart scans may predict survival in rare amyloid disease
NCT ID NCT04392960
First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at 30 people newly diagnosed with cardiac AL amyloidosis, a rare disease where abnormal proteins build up in the heart. Researchers used advanced imaging (MRI, PET, and ultrasound) along with blood tests to see which measurements best predict survival and how the heart responds to chemotherapy. The goal was to improve monitoring and treatment planning, not to test a new therapy.
