New screw material could improve spine cancer outcomes
NCT ID NCT06293157
First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tests whether carbon fiber screws, which don't interfere with scans, can improve treatment for spine cancer that has spread from other parts of the body. About 226 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either standard titanium screws or carbon fiber screws during spine surgery, followed by targeted radiation. The goal is to see if carbon screws help doctors better plan radiation and detect tumor regrowth earlier, potentially extending the time before the cancer returns.
