CAR-T cells take on rheumatoid arthritis in Head-to-Head trial
NCT ID NCT06475495
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This phase I/II trial compares a single dose of CAR-T cell therapy (KYV101) to two doses of rituximab in 13 people with active, treatment-resistant rheumatoid arthritis. The main goals are to check safety and see if the CAR-T treatment can turn off certain immune markers linked to the disease. Participants are followed for 52 weeks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
CAR-T cell therapy (KYV101) and rituximab
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a new treatment option for people with severe rheumatoid arthritis that hasn't responded to other therapies.
What could go wrong
This is a very early, small trial with only 13 participants, so results may not apply broadly. CAR-T therapy carries risks like cytokine release syndrome and nerve toxicity.
