Cancer-Fighting cell therapy tested against lupus and other autoimmune diseases

NCT ID NCT06548607

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether a type of cell therapy called CAR-T, which is used to treat some cancers, can help people with serious autoimmune diseases like lupus, scleroderma, and vasculitis. The therapy involves collecting a patient's own immune cells, modifying them in a lab to target specific markers (CD19 or BCMA), and then infusing them back to potentially reset the faulty immune system. The main goal is to check if this approach is safe and tolerable, while also looking for early signs that it might control these difficult diseases.
