First seen Mar 29, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This early-stage trial tested a new treatment for people with severe lupus that did not improve with standard medicines. Three patients received specially engineered immune cells (CAR T-cells) designed to target and calm the overactive immune system. The main goal was to check safety, while also looking at whether the treatment could reduce lupus disease activity.
