Houston study aims to bridge genetic testing gap for black families at risk of hereditary cancers

Summary

This study aims to identify Black individuals and families in Houston, Texas who may be at increased risk for hereditary breast and colorectal cancers. Researchers will work with trusted community organizations to screen 1,000 participants using a simple questionnaire. Those identified as higher risk will be offered genetic counseling and testing to understand their cancer risk and learn about prevention options for themselves and their family members.
