Cancer drug mystery: why do some save lives but hurt hearts?

NCT ID NCT07382752

Summary

This study aims to understand why certain powerful cancer drugs (immune checkpoint inhibitors) can shrink tumors but sometimes cause serious heart problems. Researchers will follow 1,200 patients starting this therapy, analyzing their blood and genetics to find clues that predict who is at risk for heart damage. The goal is to gather knowledge that could one day help doctors separate the cancer-fighting benefits from the heart-harming side effects.
