ER talks aim to ease final cancer journey, cut hospital stays

NCT ID NCT06420206

Summary

This study is testing whether having a structured conversation about a patient's goals and wishes for care during an emergency room visit improves their quality of life. It involves 200 adults with advanced lung or gastrointestinal cancer who are not expected to be cured. Researchers will compare outcomes like time spent in the hospital and symptom relief between patients who have this conversation and those who receive usual care.
