Prosthetists may spot hidden health issues in amputees
NCT ID NCT05410548
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looked at whether prosthetists (the specialists who fit artificial limbs) can screen for common health problems like depression, nerve damage, and poor blood flow during routine visits. 70 people with a leg amputation took part. Half got standard care, and the other half also got screenings from their prosthetist, plus education and a report sent to their doctor. The goal was to see if this extra step helps patients become more aware of these issues and feel more satisfied with their care.
