Slow drip, less pain: new study aims to prevent chemo nerve damage

NCT ID NCT03800693

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether giving the chemotherapy drug oxaliplatin over 6 hours instead of the usual 2 hours can prevent or delay nerve damage in people with gastrointestinal cancers. About 60 participants will be randomly assigned to one of two infusion times. The goal is to see if the longer infusion allows patients to stay on full-dose treatment longer without delays or dose reductions.
