First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tested whether hydroxychloroquine, a medicine used for malaria, can slow down or prevent lupus in people who show early signs of the disease. 187 participants with mild symptoms and positive antibody tests were randomly given either the drug or a placebo. Researchers tracked disease progression, symptoms, and immune markers over time to see if the drug could stop lupus from fully developing.
