Common allergy pill could shield cancer patients from Chemo's painful side effect

NCT ID NCT07109817

Summary

This study is testing if desloratadine, a common and safe allergy medication, can prevent or reduce nerve pain and damage (peripheral neuropathy) caused by taxane chemotherapy in people with breast cancer. About 116 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the drug or a placebo (a look-alike pill with no medicine) while undergoing their chemotherapy. Researchers will use questionnaires to measure nerve symptoms and quality of life to see if the allergy pill helps.
