NCT ID NCT05463692
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study follows 830 women in Alabama who are at risk for HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Researchers will use a smartphone app to provide information and resources, and track how many women start using PrEP, a medication that prevents HIV. The goal is to learn what factors affect STI risk and PrEP use, so better prevention strategies can be developed.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could reveal key factors that help prevent HIV and STIs in women, leading to better prevention programs.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial, so it won't directly cure or prevent disease. Results depend on participant reporting and may not apply to all women.
