First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a telehealth program called C-READY that helps teens with sickle cell disease improve thinking skills like planning and problem-solving. The goal is to prepare them to manage their own health care as they grow up. About 120 teens aged 10-18 will take part, and the program includes training for both teens and parents.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Cognitive remediation program (C-READY) delivered via telehealth

What this could lead to

If it works, this program could help teens with sickle cell disease gain the skills and confidence needed to manage their own health care as adults.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase trial (120 participants) testing a behavioral intervention, so results may not apply to everyone. The program requires time and effort from families, and benefits may vary.
