Heart surgery pain breakthrough? common supplements put to the test
NCT ID NCT07144033
Summary
This study is testing whether taking two common supplements, butyrate and taurine, can prevent patients from developing long-term pain after major heart surgery. It will involve 216 adults who will take the supplement combination or a placebo daily, starting the day before surgery and continuing for three months. The main goal is to see if this safe, oral treatment can reduce the risk of chronic pain, potentially offering an alternative to strong painkillers like opioids.
