AI chatbot takes on vaccine myths in UK trial
NCT ID NCT07488962
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a conversational AI chatbot can help parents and caregivers in the UK better identify false information about childhood vaccines. Around 1000 participants will be randomly assigned to either interact with the chatbot or view a standard social media infographic. The goal is to see which approach improves parents' ability to tell true from false vaccine claims.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
AI-driven chatbot
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a scalable tool to help parents resist vaccine misinformation and make informed decisions.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (1000 people) measuring short-term responses, not real-world vaccination behavior. Results may not generalize beyond the UK or this specific chatbot design.
