First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether an autism-friendly mobile app can help children and teens (ages 8-17) with autism improve their toothbrushing skills and habits. Participants use either the special app or a basic control app for 3 months while researchers track brushing quality and habits. The goal is to see if the app leads to better oral health without added stress.
What this could mean

Active substance
Brush Up App (behavioral intervention)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could give families a simple, low-cost tool to help children with autism brush better and improve oral health.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial testing a behavioral app, so results may not apply to everyone. The app may not lead to lasting habit changes.
