First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at why brown fat, which helps burn calories, becomes inactive in warm conditions. Researchers will compare blood and fat tissue samples from lean people, people with obesity, and people with obesity and type 2 diabetes before and after cold exposure. The goal is to identify the factors that turn off brown fat, which could lead to new treatments for obesity and metabolic disease.
