New shingles drug could beat current standard for pain relief

Summary
This study compares two antiviral drugs, brivudine and famciclovir, to see which is better at reducing pain from shingles and preventing long-term nerve pain. About 140 adults with shingles will take one of the two medicines. Researchers will track pain levels over 90 days and check how quickly skin sores heal.
