NCT ID NCT06940037
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at why older adults respond differently to strength training. Researchers will enroll 300 people aged 65 and older who are at risk for mobility problems. Participants will either do progressive resistance training three times a week or attend weekly health education classes. The goal is to understand how aging biology affects changes in physical function and blood sugar control.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Progressive resistance training (strength exercise) and health education classes
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help tailor exercise programs for older adults to maximize mobility and metabolic benefits.
What could go wrong
This is an observational-style trial without a drug or cure; it measures variability and may not lead to a direct treatment. Results depend on participant adherence and may not apply to all older adults.
