Radiation before CAR T-Cell therapy: a new hope for tough lymphoma?
NCT ID NCT05800405
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This early-phase trial tests whether giving radiation to all active cancer spots before CAR T-cell infusion can help control large B-cell lymphoma that has come back or not responded to treatment. Nine adults with relapsed or refractory lymphoma will receive targeted radiation during the wait for their CAR T-cells. The goal is to see if this bridging approach is safe and feasible, potentially improving treatment outcomes with minimal added toxicity.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- external beam radiation therapy
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this approach could make CAR T-cell therapy more effective for patients with aggressive lymphoma that has returned or not responded to treatment.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very early, small feasibility study with only 9 participants, so results may not apply broadly. Radiation may cause side effects or fail to improve outcomes.
