ICU study tests best way to wean overweight patients off ventilators
NCT ID NCT07114289
Summary
This study aims to find which of two short breathing tests better prepares overweight and obese ICU patients to have their breathing tubes safely removed. Researchers will randomly assign 100 eligible adults to try either a pressure support ventilation or a T-piece method for one hour before doctors decide on tube removal. The main goal is to see which test leads to more patients staying off the ventilator successfully for at least 72 hours.
