Breathing mask trial aims to keep surgery patients off ventilators

NCT ID NCT01971892

Summary

This study tested whether a special breathing mask (non-invasive ventilation) could help patients who develop serious breathing problems after abdominal surgery. It compared the mask to standard oxygen therapy to see if it could prevent the need for a breathing tube and ventilator. The goal was to improve recovery and reduce complications for 300 patients across multiple hospitals.
