Could breast cancer patients avoid armpit surgery? major trial tests new approach

NCT ID NCT06704945

Summary

This study is testing whether some breast cancer patients can safely skip surgery to remove lymph nodes from their armpit after they finish chemotherapy. It will compare the cancer outcomes and quality of life for patients who have the standard lymph node surgery versus those who skip it. The goal is to reduce surgery-related side effects like arm swelling (lymphedema) without compromising cancer control.
