Glowing dye may spare breast cancer patients a second surgery
NCT ID NCT07140965
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tests whether a fluorescent dye (Pegulicianine) and 3D breast imaging can help surgeons see and remove all cancer during a partial mastectomy, potentially reducing the need for a second operation. About 175 women with breast cancer will receive the dye before surgery, and surgeons will use a special camera to check for leftover cancer cells. The goal is to improve outcomes and lower the chance of repeat surgery.
