New score could help guide Late-Stage breast cancer treatment decisions
NCT ID NCT01574170
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study aims to develop and validate a scoring system to identify which patients with metastatic breast cancer are likely to live longer with third-line chemotherapy. Researchers will collect clinical, histological, and biological data from 267 women starting a third line of treatment. The goal is to create a tool that helps doctors and patients make more informed decisions about continuing chemotherapy.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors identify which patients with metastatic breast cancer are most likely to benefit from third-line chemotherapy, avoiding unnecessary treatments.
What could go wrong
This is a prognostic tool study, not a treatment trial. The score may not be accurate enough to change practice, and results may not apply to all patients.
