Sniffing out cancer: study tests odor sensor for breast cancer detection

NCT ID NCT04541537

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tested whether breast cancer has a unique smell that can be detected by a special sensor. Researchers collected odor samples from the hands of 35 women with breast cancer before and after their tumor was removed. The goal was to see if the sensor could identify cancer-related odors, which could lead to a new, non-invasive screening method in the future.
