New lymph node test could spare breast cancer patients unnecessary surgery
NCT ID NCT05763641
Summary
This study is testing a new method to check if breast cancer has spread to lymph nodes after chemotherapy. Researchers will mark a cancerous lymph node before treatment, then remove it along with a few others after chemotherapy to see if this smaller procedure is as accurate as removing all lymph nodes. The goal is to help patients with locally advanced breast cancer avoid more extensive surgery if possible.
