Gene clues could spare women unnecessary breast surgery
NCT ID NCT07416500
First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study looked at whether testing for certain gene changes (methylation) in breast tissue samples can help doctors better identify cancer in breast lesions that are hard to diagnose. Over 300 women with suspicious breast lumps provided tissue samples during standard biopsies. The researchers compared the gene test results with the final diagnosis to see if the test could accurately tell benign from malignant lesions. The goal is to improve diagnosis and reduce unnecessary surgeries or follow-ups.
