Breath-Hold trick may sharpen brain scans for tumor patients

NCT ID NCT03604302

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether adding a breath-holding task to standard brain scans can make mapping of important brain areas more accurate in people with brain tumors. About 33 patients and healthy volunteers will have functional MRI scans while doing language tasks, with and without breath-holds. The goal is to see if the breath-hold method reduces false negatives, helping surgeons avoid damaging critical brain regions.
