Scientists scan brains to unlock why stress triggers binge eating
NCT ID NCT03393039
Summary
This study aims to understand how negative emotions like stress or sadness affect the brain's reward system and food choices in people with binge eating disorders and obesity. Researchers will use brain scans (fMRI) to compare brain activity in four groups of adults: those with binge eating disorder, bulimia nervosa, obesity without an eating disorder, and healthy controls. The goal is to identify specific brain patterns that could explain why negative moods lead to binge eating, which may help guide future treatments.
