Scientists scan brains to unlock why depression alters choices

NCT ID NCT05232032

Summary

This study aims to understand how a specific brain circuit involved in making decisions (like approaching rewards or avoiding threats) works differently in people with depression or anxiety. Researchers will give an experimental drug to 112 unmedicated participants and use MRI brain scans and behavioral tasks to see if it changes this brain activity. The goal is to gather knowledge about the biology of these conditions, not to provide a treatment.
