Brain scans reveal hidden effects of proton therapy in kids

NCT ID NCT05288439

First seen Jan 12, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at how proton beam radiation affects brain connections and thinking skills in children and young adults (ages 6-25) treated for brain tumors. Researchers use special MRI scans taken at rest, along with thinking tests and quality-of-life questionnaires. Both patients who had radiation and healthy volunteers take part, so the team can compare brain networks and spot any differences caused by treatment.
