Radiation shield for the brain: can it stop breast Cancer's spread?

Summary
This study tested whether giving radiation to the brain could prevent cancer from spreading there in patients with a specific type of advanced breast cancer (HER2-positive). Patients were already receiving standard treatment with trastuzumab (Herceptin) and chemotherapy. The goal was to see if this 'prophylactic' radiation improved survival by keeping the cancer out of the brain. The trial was stopped early after enrolling only 13 participants.
