Brain scans reveal how stuttering kids process speech differently

NCT ID NCT05668923

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study looks at how children who stutter process speech sounds compared to children who do not stutter. Researchers will use hearing tests, brain wave recordings (EEG), and brain scans (fMRI) to measure brain activity. The goal is to understand the differences in speech processing, which may help develop better treatments in the future. The study involves 600 children aged 6-18 who speak English as their primary language.
