Summary

This study is testing a simple 4-point clinical checklist to help doctors decide when it's safe to remove breathing tubes from brain-injured patients who are still unconscious. The goal is to reduce the risk of failed tube removal, which can lead to pneumonia and other complications. The trial will involve 660 patients across multiple intensive care units, comparing usual care against using the new checklist to guide the timing of tube removal.
