Brain drain infection detection breakthrough?
NCT ID NCT07380477
Summary
This observational study aims to understand how certain markers in brain fluid can help detect infections in patients with acute brain injuries who have drainage tubes. Researchers will monitor 148 patients in Denmark to see if lactate levels in brain fluid can predict infections. The study doesn't test treatments but seeks to improve infection detection methods for these vulnerable patients.
