Scientists scan brains to unlock mystery of deadly seizure risk

NCT ID NCT07013331

Summary

This study aims to understand brain changes in adults with Dravet syndrome, a severe form of epilepsy with a high risk of sudden death. Researchers will use PET and MRI brain scans to compare 30 participants: 10 with Dravet syndrome, 10 with other drug-resistant epilepsy, and 10 healthy adults. The goal is to see if specific brain patterns are linked to breathing problems during sleep, which may help explain the high risk of sudden death.
