Small study probes bleeding danger in stroke patients with 'leaky' brain vessels

NCT ID NCT05565144

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looked at 15 stroke patients who had a condition called cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), which makes blood vessels in the brain fragile and prone to bleeding. All patients received a clot-busting drug (thrombolysis) for their stroke. Researchers checked CT scans 24 hours later for any brain bleeding and tracked how well patients recovered by the time they left the hospital. The goal was to understand if CAA features on MRI before treatment are linked to bleeding complications or worse outcomes.
