Brain gym: a new hope for kids with cerebral palsy?
NCT ID NCT07176858
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study will test whether special 'brain gym' exercises can improve thinking abilities and quality of life in 60 children aged 6 to 8 with spastic hemiplegic cerebral palsy. The children will do these exercises along with standard physical therapy for 30 minutes, three times a week, for three months. Researchers will measure changes in cognitive function and quality of life using computer tests and questionnaires.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- brain gym exercises (a series of physical and mental exercises designed to stimulate both brain hemispheres)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to help children with cerebral palsy improve their thinking skills and daily quality of life.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 60 children, and brain gym exercises are not a standard medical treatment. The results may not apply to all children with cerebral palsy.
