Mind-Reading implant aims to give voice to the paralyzed

NCT ID NCT03698149

First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026

Summary

This early study tests whether a brain implant can help people with severe paralysis from conditions like ALS, stroke, or spinal cord injury control devices using their thoughts. Three adults will have a small sensor placed on the brain's surface to decode signals for typing text or generating speech. The main goal is to check safety and see if the system works for communication.
