First seen Jun 03, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tested a combination of chemotherapy (busulfan and etoposide) and low-dose total body radiation before a donor bone marrow transplant in 30 people with advanced leukemia or myelodysplastic syndromes. The goal was to see how well this approach helped patients survive cancer-free for five years. Participants also received drugs to prevent graft-versus-host disease, a common complication where donor cells attack the body.
