Lying down differently changes how your lungs work – especially if you have obesity
NCT ID NCT07341113
First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study looked at how different lying positions affect air and blood flow in the lungs of 40 healthy volunteers, half with obesity and half without. Using a non-invasive imaging belt called electrical impedance tomography, researchers measured how well ventilation and perfusion matched up in each position. The goal was to learn how body shape and position influence lung function, which could help design better breathing support for people with obesity.
