Summary
This pilot study measured levels of a heart stress marker called NT-proBNP in 54 breast cancer patients during surgery. All patients had previously received anthracycline chemotherapy, which can weaken the heart. Researchers wanted to see if anesthesia might add extra stress. The goal was to find a simple way to detect early heart problems during surgery.
