Blood test could help some rectal cancer patients avoid surgery

NCT ID NCT07209215

Summary

This study is testing whether a sensitive blood test can help doctors decide the best next step for patients with early-stage rectal cancer who have completed initial chemotherapy and radiation. The test looks for tiny bits of cancer DNA in the blood. Based on the test result, patients will either have standard surgery or enter a careful monitoring program to see if surgery can be safely avoided.
