First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study looked at 20 non-diabetic critically ill patients to see if there is a link between blood sugar levels and heart rate variability (HRV), a measure of nervous system health. Researchers focused on stress-induced high blood sugar, common in ICUs, and its connection to nerve control of the pancreas. The goal was to better understand how the body regulates blood sugar during severe illness.
