NCT ID NCT04794595

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at whether continuous blood purification (a slow, steady filtering of the blood) works better than standard non-continuous methods for children with severe sepsis. Researchers will track survival rates and kidney function in 90 children aged 29 days to 18 years. The goal is to find out if the continuous approach improves outcomes and when it should be started.

What this could lead to

If this works, it could show that continuous blood purification helps more children survive sepsis and recover kidney function.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study (90 children) and the results may not apply to all patients. The procedure also carries risks like bleeding or infection.
