Massive study tests which blood thinner best prevents deadly clots after surgery
NCT ID NCT02810704
Summary
This large study compared three common blood thinners—aspirin, warfarin, and rivaroxaban—to find the best balance for preventing dangerous blood clots after hip or knee replacement surgery. It involved nearly 19,000 patients who took one of the medications for 30 days after their operation. The goal was to see which drug most effectively prevented clots while causing the fewest serious bleeding side effects.
