Gentler chemo combo shows promise for older leukemia patients

NCT ID NCT07153796

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a drug called blinatumomab, given as a shot under the skin, combined with low-intensity chemotherapy for people aged 60 and older (or younger adults who are not healthy enough for strong chemo) with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The goal is to see if this combination is safe and works well. Only 3 people are enrolled so far, so results are very early.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Blinatumomab (given under the skin) plus low-intensity chemotherapy

What this could lead to

If successful, this could offer a gentler treatment option for older or frail patients with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, potentially improving outcomes with fewer side effects.

What could go wrong

This is a very early phase 2 trial with only 3 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The combination may still cause serious side effects or not work as hoped.
