New study aims to predict bleeding in liver patients during routine procedures

NCT ID NCT07405749

First seen Feb 15, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at 2500 adults with liver scarring (cirrhosis) or high blood pressure in the liver (portal hypertension) to find out how often bleeding happens during planned medical procedures. Standard blood tests often fail to predict bleeding, so researchers will track real-world outcomes to improve risk assessment. The goal is to help doctors decide when it's safe to proceed without unnecessary blood product transfusions.
